When it's winter, cold salads and no-reheat lunches still have their place - but sometimes you just need something a little cosier to eat while rugged up in a blanket. These winter lunch ideas are built around warm winter recipes like soups, slow cooker meals, risottos and heartier dishes.

As I'm writing this, it is winter in Australia. And if you've heard the rumours that the houses are colder than outside during winter, it's correct. That's why these winter-inspired lunch ideas are a necessity to keep us warm. There's also just something about the winter months that has me craving something really creamy and filling - think pot pie weather.
But don't worry, in true Athlete Lunchbox fashion, each of these recipes is tested with meal prepping in mind. Which means you're going to be cooking less in winter, but still enjoying foods that taste freshly cooked because of my storage, reheating and freezing tips and tricks.
Aside from the obvious cosiness, there is a huge benefit in preparing meals with seasonal produce. It's cheaper, and often tastes a lot better because it's usually come from local sources!
