Why you'll love this recipe
Healthier Alternative. Made with Greek yoghurt instead of mayo, this creamy balsamic dressing without mayo is lighter and packed with protein which makes it a perfect addition to a Christmas Wreath Salad or Mediterranean Pasta Salad.
Bright & Refreshing. The combination of fresh orange juice and balsamic vinegar creates a zesty, vibrant flavour perfect for a Salmon Side or Tuna Pasta Salad.
Versatile. This dressing works beautifully on leafy greens, roasted veggies, or as a marinade for Roast Chicken or Roast Pork. If you're not a fan of the creaminess, my Basil Balsamic Dressing is a great alternative.
Ingredients
Greek Yoghurt. The creamy base of this creamy balsamic dressing, it adds tang and protein; swap with plain yoghurt for a similar texture.
Balsamic Vinegar. Provides the rich, tangy flavour in this orange balsamic dressing. For a non-creamy balsamic dressing, try my Maple Balsamic Vinaigrette
Orange Juice and Zest. Fresh orange juice and zest add brightness and a citrusy twist; substitute with mandarin or lemon for a different flavour.
Oregano. Adds a herbal note to the dressing; swap with thyme or basil for a slightly different flavour profile.
Salt, Pepper, Garlic. Essential for flavour in the Greek yoghurt salad dressing.

How to make a creamy balsamic dressing
- Combine ingredients
In a small bowl or jar, mix Greek yoghurt, balsamic vinegar, the juice and zest the orange, minced garlic clove and oregano.
- Whisk or blend
Whisk the ingredients until smooth and creamy, or use an immersion blender for an extra silky texture.
- Season to taste
Taste. Add salt and pepper depending on preferences. If the Greek yoghurt dressing is too citrusy, add more Greek yoghurt.
- Serve or store
Drizzle over a Cranberry Turkey Salad, roasted vegetables, or use as Chicken Roast or Salmond Side marinade. Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 7 days, shaking or stirring before each use.
Top Tip
Use good quality ingredients. Use freshly squeezed orange juice and freshly minced garlic as this will provide the best flavour to the creamy balsamic dressing without oil. I used dried oregano in this particular salad dressing as it mixes better and it's not a large component of the overall flavour.
Balance the flavours. Taste and dressing and tweak as needed - add more balsamic for tanginess, a drizzle of honey for sweetness, or a pinch of oregano for herbal depth.
Storing creamy balsamic dressing
Meal prepping a salad dressing like this creamy balsamic vinaigrette, or a honey mustard dressing is a great way to inject flavour into your meal prepped proteins, like a Roast Chicken, vegetables or as a creamy pasta salad dressing for a Mediterranean Pasta salad.
The homemade creamy dressing can be stored in the fridge in an airtight container for up to a week. Make sure to shake well before pouring as the Greek yogurt can separate.
If you want to meal prep the creamy balsamic dressing with a salad, take a look at my Cranberry Turkey Couscous salad (pictured) where you'll want to make sure that the dressing sits at the bottom and the leafy greens are as far away as possible to ensure they don't go soggy.
