Ingredients

Hot cross buns. These sweet spiced buns provide a delicious base and seasonal touch to your parfait.
I used Raspberry and White Chocolate ones to maintain the theme of the raspberry. But, the flavour of them wasn't overpowering and you could use any hot cross buns you like.
Jam. I use my Homemade raspberry chia jam as it's a more nutritious option than store-bought, especially for a breakfast recipe.
Fresh raspberries. Bursting with flavour and really add a good tang. Look for raspberries that are plush and rich in the red colour to ensure they're fresh.
Greek yogurt. Greek yogurt packs in extra protein helping you stay fuller for longer (very important for a Breakfast Meal Prep).
Please check the recipe card for full list of ingredients and quantity. See below for substitutions and variations.
How to make
Step 1: Slice the hot cross buns into cubes.
Step 2: Layer half of the hot cross buns in a glass, followed by a layer of Greek yogurt, fresh raspberries, and homemade raspberry chia jam; repeat the layers to finish it off.
Top Tip
Presentation. For a beautiful presentation, use clear glasses to showcase the vibrant layers; it makes the dessert even more enticing!
Leftover hot cross buns. This recipe is perfect for those leftover and slightly stale hot cross buns as the yogurt and fruit help to soften them back up.
Substitutions and variations
Hot cross buns. If you can't find hot cross buns, any sweet bread will work great here. Just add a pinch of cinnamon to mimic the classic flavour.
Homemade raspberry chia jam. Feel free to swap in any jam or preserve you love; just make sure it’s thick enough to hold its shape.
Greek yogurt. You can replace it with dairy-free yogurt if you prefer. My partner used a coconut yogurt for his and it was a great addition to the raspberry. I would recommend a thick variety of yogurt so you still get those stunning layers.

Recommended Equipment
For this recipe, using clear cups or glasses (I actually used Overnight Oat Jars) is ideal to highlight the beautiful layers of your raspberry Easter parfait, so choose something that showcases your creation!
Can trifle be made in advance?
Yes. You can keep the assembled parfaits in the fridge, covered, for up to 3 days. The hot cross buns will gradually get softer under the yogurt and jam so if you're not a fan of the "mushy" texture, I would suggest eating earlier.
Or, you can prepare the ingredients beforehand (especially the Homemade Chia Jam) and hot cross buns, then assemble when you want to eat.
Can parfait be frozen?
I wouldn't recommend freezing as the yogurt and chia jam have quite a lot of moisture and will change the texture too much

FAQs
Yes, frozen raspberries can work, just be aware they may be softer once thawed and cause more moisture to go through the parfait (which could make it slightly more soggy, especially if storing in the fridge overnight)
Any sweet bread will do—just add a pinch of cinnamon and maybe some raisins/sultanas to replicate that classic hot cross bun flavour!
Assembled parfaits can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days, so you can make them in advance!
